An evaluation of the characteristic aftershock parameters following the 24 January 2020 Mw = 6.8 Elazığ-Sivrice (Türkiye) earthquake

A comprehensive evaluation of region-time-magnitude behaviours aftershocks following the 24 January 2020 (Mw = 6.8) Elazığ-Sivrice (Türkiye) earthquake was achieved by using characteristic parameters such as b-value, p-value, Dc-value and Mamax value aftershock occurrences. The b-value calculated 0.82 ± 0.02 considering magnitude completeness Mcomp 1.9, it is relatively small compared to typical b ≈ 1 for magnitude-frequency relationship aftershocks. This low may also be caused abundance with ML ≥ 4.0. p-value computed 0.80 c-value 0.279 0.098 smaller than global p 1. due a slow decay rate activity, modified Omori model seems appropriate estimation parameters. estimated 1.87 0.07. large shows that are homogeneously distributed more clustered at larger scales/in areas. temporal variation indicates decreases in result from gradual increase effective stress lowest b-values values greater 5.0 were observed north, south southwest parts mainshock including Pütürge Erkenek segments. These results show there an apparent relation between smallest largest values. p-values around main shock segment. regions have high coseismic deformation, respectively. Stress variations deformation extremely on changes b- p-values. As remarkable result, hazard considered related parameters, detailed analyses characteristics recommended preliminary mainshock.
